Tate Sameshima

Tate Sameshima is a Toronto-based artist, specializing in mixed media resin photography. Always having an affinity for story-telling, Tate’s work exposes the stories of both urban streetscapes and scenic landscapes of the everyday.

A self-trained photographer with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ryerson University’s Technical Theatre Production Program, Tate embraces natural light environments. His focus in lighting design further sparked his curiosity for colour and light, which plays a prominent role in his work as he captures in both digital and analogue processes. Tate’s background in Theatre has helped navigate his direction in photography as his imagery presents a nostalgic theatricality. He strives to create timeless work that is visually accessible regardless of personal knowledge or experience.

Tate’s work is known for its high-gloss resin finishing. He works closely with local suppliers for both his professional printing and custom made birch panels.
