Stephanie Fehrenbach

Joy and our innate connection to the beauty of nature are the central themes in Stephanie Fehrenbach’s work. She approaches each canvas with fun and playfulness, recreating that sense of happiness felt in a lush summer garden, andtransporting the viewer into a world of romance and dreamy arrays of colour. Intentionally working with oils for their buttery texture and the way they blend so beautifully wet on wet, Fehrenbach begins with brushes to create gestural marks with thin washes of paint. Using her intuition these playful marks are what inform the rest of her composition, building up abstract forms with palette knives to achieve the thick textures and marbled swashes that add movement and life to each piece. Fehrenbach received her B.F.A. Honours degree from Queen’s University and now lives with her family in Kitchener-Waterloo, On.
